Like a Rescued Cat

Sometimes, we get lost. We don’t know where to go.
Then something calls us.
Reflections
There are moments in life when we may feel lost or emotionally adrift. From the outside, everything may seem normal, yet inwardly we are searching for a safe place to rest. This poem explores the power of hospitality — not only food, warmth, or shelter, but the deeper human need to feel welcomed and wanted.
The image of the wandering scrap of paper suggests how easily we can become directionless or disconnected. The light in the window, the warm voice, the banana bread and coffee, and finally the rescued cat beside the firelight all suggest how kindness can help restore a sense of peace and belonging. We may never find grand solutions to our struggles. Yet moments of kindness and human connection may offer the respite we need.
Like a Rescued Cat is a short poem about an aspect of life experience: finding peace in human connection. Even brief moments of warmth can remind us that we are not alone.
Question for you
Can you describe an act of kindness or hospitality that stayed with you long after it happened?
Affirmation
I am grateful for the moments of kindness, warmth, and human connection that bring peace and happiness.
